Our CFD studies showed that a seatpost with aerodynamically optimized cross section results in measurable gains over a round seatpost. We did not want to trade these gains for comfort though, as many seatposts with a deep aerofoil profile do. Therefore we used CFD optimization to find a shape that offers aerodynamics and compliance at the same time. Shaving off some drag while maintaining ride quality, you are going faster for longer!
And, as an added bonus, we do not want to keep it as a secret, and rather share the shape with any bicycle brand interested in using it.
As we know, already just going from a 27.2 mm to a 31.6 mm diameter on a round seatpost makes a huge difference in the ability to absorb shocks through compliance of the seatpost. Therefore, we did not want to exceed a depth of 27.2 mm
